Threat to Shechita
Check the current situation at www.shechitauk.org
Urgent Request from United Synagogue President: Shechita - April 2011
Dear Kashrut Subscriber
I am taking the unusual step of emailing you to ask for your help with a matter of some urgency.
As you may be aware there is a continuing threat to kosher meat as a result of prospective European legislation. We now face a new attempt to introduce amendments to a food labelling bill which will single out meat from shechita for special attention in such a way as to seriously jeopardise the availability of kosher meat.
This matter is urgent as the proposed amendments come before a committee on April 11th - just one week from today. Please may I urge you to visit www.shechitauk.org where you will find all the information and resources necessary to register your objection to these proposals.
As was the case recently, it is only through individuals affected by this issue expressing their concerns that MEPs can be made aware of the strength of feeling opposing attacks on shechita and the kosher consumer.
Just a few minutes of your time to send a letter or email can make a huge difference to the whole Jewish community.
Please do visit on www.shechitauk.org now.
Thank you
Simon Hochhauser
President
